Join the Morning Chorus! Expert birder and Lindsay Wildlife Museum Docent Tracy Farrington will lead us on a morning bird walk that allows us to eavesdrop on our many bird species as they sing themselves awake. You will walk away with a deep appreciation of avian biodiversity on the Las Positas College campus. Wear comfortable shoes and layers. Bring binoculars if possible. We will have some to lend.

Biology Club and Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society

Las Positas College Biology students from Biology Club and Beta Beta Beta Honor Society will lead an afternoon biodiversity discovery event for teachers and students in grades 1 through 3 at a Livermore elementary school. The curriculum materials and activities were developed by students Josh Gates, Ashley Hoover, and Ashley Kim, with support from their faculty advisor.

Students will pilot the BioBlitzzz! dichotomous key exercise developed by Biology Club members, and be introduced to Hippopotamus Dichotomous, a character invented by student Josh Gates and illustrated by student Ashley Hoover.

Zoology students will take pertinent ecological measurements such as temperature, light levels, and habitat grain, then look for correlation with insect diversity at different locations on campus.
Biology Club and Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society are also helping to support Science and Engineering Month by serving as
Zoology students traveled less than 20 miles away to the cold waters of Alameda Creek in Sunol Regional Wilderness. With the expert guidance of a East Bay Regional Park District naturalist and three docents, LPC students identified multiple orders of larval insects and even saw toe-biters, worms, frogs, and a snake. Congratulations to our adventurous students!
