What is a Career Pathway?

A career pathway is a series of course offerings within an industry sector that provides students with a variety of learning opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in the context of a career.

The course offerings begin with middle school opportunities to develop career awareness and expand in high school with career exploration and skill applications. Career pathways often end with four-year degrees.

The pathway flowcharts are great tools for students, parents, counselors and administrators to use to help students visualize pathways to their career of choice. Each chart also provides examples of careers that are available to the student.
